Get to know Dr. Inna Husain

Dr. Inna Husain is a board-certified otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeon and fellowship trained laryngologist who has been in clinical practice for 10+yrs. She completed her residency from Northwestern University followed by a fellowship year at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, a Harvard teaching hospital . Dr. Husain started her career as an attending at Rush University Medical Center where she rose to the ranks of Associate Professor. She was actively involved in the teaching of future ENTs and served not only as the Section Head of Laryngology but as the Associate Program Director for the residency program. After seven years, Dr. Husain transitioned to community practice in Munster, IN as the Medical Director of Laryngology for Powers Health. This opportunity allowed her to to bring her highly specialized skill set to an underserved region of Northwest Indiana, helping to create the first comprehensive Voice, Airway, and Swallowing Disorders program as well as the first Professional Voice program in the region. Dr. Husain sees patients full-time in her Munster office.

Awards & Honors


Dr. Husain is actively involved in the advancement of the field of laryngology especially related to laryngopharyngeal reflux disease (LPRD) also known as silent reflux. Having suffered from the condition herself, Dr. Husain is able to empathize with her patients and explain the myths and mysteries of the disease. This personal experience regarding the frustrations that arise from a LPRD diagnosis is the motivating force behind her highly successful online educational platforms. She is also actively involved with organizations focused on advancing education and advocacy for laryngeal disorders including the American Laryngological Association, American Bronchoesophagological Association, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, participating not only in annual meetings and conferences but actively participating in committee work.

Dr. Husain has over 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications in premier journals such as The Laryngoscope, Journal of Voice, Dysphagia, and Otolaryngology -Head and Neck Journal. She has written Op-Eds featured in Scientific American, Ms. Magazine, The Hill, and KevinMD.com.

She also has numerous press mentions including FoxNews, Self Magazine, Men’s Health, Women’s Health, PopSugar,Huffpost and DailyMail related to her area of expertise as an otolaryngologist. Dr. Husain enjoys spending time outside of the clinic and operating room with her family. She is a second generation female otolaryngologist (like mother like daughter) and mother to 3 daughters. She enjoys traveling having recently visited her 7th continent, Antarctica.
